Not Just A Decorative Metal

Richard Shemesian is a proud University of Western Australia graduate. He would like to be able to reconnect with his fellow alumni from school. He attended the Business and Law schools during his time there. Shemesian is one of many people who is still bullish on the prospects of gold.

Gold is one of the oldest commercially traded minerals in the world. It was discovered early on and has maintained a strong presence in society throughout history. For thousands of years, people used gold as a decorative metal. Later on, gold became the first real international currency.

Gold’s use as an international currency was mainly due to a number of characteristics that the metal possessed that separated it from others. Gold was and is durable, malleable, and lustrous. These three characteristics, as well as its presence in many geographic locations, made gold the most reasonable choice for currency.

Gold is still a reasonable choice for investors to pick–but not as a currency. Gold is present in many investors portfolios today because it has been climbing in price for months, years, now. Some experts believe that gold could still climb higher, which has a lot of people investing in it heavily.

Further to Go

Richard Shemesian was lucky enough to be able to attend Western Australia University. He attended the Business and Law Schools within that prestigious institution. Shemesian has been able to excel in his career because of this foundational education.

Gold has long been treated differently than other minerals. The average person doesn’t want to own lithium or malachite, but they do want to own gold. This ancient mineral has always been highly sought after because of its brilliant luster. Gold was also malleable, so it was easy to turn into both decorations and currency.

However, gold is not unpopular now, either. It has maintained a certain appeal because it is now a popular investment. Gold remains popular to invest in because it protects investors from collapsing currencies or economic recessions. This is the main appeal to investors.

Gold investments are a wise asset for anyone who thinks gold’s price can still rise, as many people do. There are many people who are bullish on gold and think it still has room to rise further.

Modernizing Gold’s Uses

Posted by admin - September 16th, 2010

Richard Shemesian was lucky enough to be able to attend one of the most prestigious universities anywhere in Australia. He was able to attain degrees from the Business and Law Schools at the University of Western Australia.

Gold is a mineral and an element that predates recorded history. Humans have been using gold for almost as long as they’ve been shaping metal period. Gold was a good material to use because it is an extremely soft metal.

Gold was used for making necklaces, rings, statues, and other decorative items. However, for thousands of years gold was also used as a currency. This is a trend that holds true today, though in a modernized fashion. Gold is still used for wedding rings and anniversary watches, but it is also used in the investment portfolio.

As an investment, gold is an essential part of the investor’s portfolio. It is sometimes pooh-poohed by investment gurus because it does not return large dividends or make massive profits. This is true, but it basically misunderstands the purpose of investing in gold in the first place. People do not invest in gold with the hopes that gold will miraculously and dramatically rise in value. Rather—they do so with the hope that gold will protect their savings, and this has been proven true, time and time again.

Profit and Protection

Richard Shemesian was lucky enough to be able to attend the prestigious University of Western Australia. This is easily one of the most highly respected universities in Australia. Their Business and Law programs, both of which Richard Shemesian worked his way through, are renowned.

At the height of a recession, very few people want to hear about new investment strategies. However, there is one out there that would’ve made big gains, even in a recession–especially in a recession–and would protect individuals’ assets otherwise.

Investing in gold is a safe investment strategy that some of world’s top investors have endorsed–including James Grant and Peter Schiff. Indeed, almost every major investor puts some stock (pun intended) in gold. Investing in gold has traditionally been seen as a safe investment because when the stock market implodes or the currency collapses, gold does not lose value. In fact, in such situations gold often will gain value instead of losing it.

However, gold can also be a profit making venture. If gold is purchased at the right time it can serve as both a protective asset and as a profitable investment. Those who are bullish on the market believe that one such time to purchase gold is now.
